The Department of Human Services is Victoria’s largest Government department and employs over 12,000 people
directly and over 80,000 people indirectly through organisations such as hospitals and aged care facilities, ambulance services
and community service agencies. The Disability Services Division provides and funds a range of services for people with
intellectual, physical, sensory and neurological disabilities and acquired brain injury. The Office for children facilitates the
planning and provision of services to Victorian children and their families. Services broadly include Early Years (child care, early
childhood intervention, kindergarten, maternal and child health, and primary school nursing); Juvenile Justice and Youth
(juvenile justice, secondary school nursing and youth services) and Child Safety & Family (adoption, child protection,
out-of-home care, family violence, sexual assault). The Office of Housing provide affordable public housing to Victorian
Residents and homelessness assistance programs including direct community managed housing, crisis and transitional
